Thinking About Botox? Here’s What You Should (and Shouldn’t) Do Before and After Treatment 💉
If you’re new to Botox or just want to make sure you’re getting the best possible results, there are a few small things that make a big difference before and after your appointment.
Here’s what I’ve learned (and what many injectors recommend):
✅ What to Do Before Botox:
• Eat light and stay hydrated, it helps with nerves and prevents dizziness.
• Get your workout in before the appointment, exercise right after can affect results.
• Arrive with a clean face (no makeup or lotion).
• Skip contacts if treating around the eyes, glasses are safer that day.
• Do a little research beforehand, understanding the process helps calm first-timer nerves.
🚫 What to Avoid Before Botox:
• Don’t take aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, or alcohol 24–48 hours prior, they can increase bruising.
• Avoid scheduling anything hectic right after your appointment.
• No makeup, it can introduce bacteria near injection sites.
✅ After Botox Care Tips:
• Stay upright for at least 4 hours.
• Be gentle with your face, skip massages or facials for a day.
• Use a clean ice pack if you notice mild swelling.
• Track your progress with photos, results usually show in 7–14 days.
🚫 What to Avoid After Botox:
• Don’t touch or rub the treated area.
• Avoid workouts or saunas for 24 hours.
• Skip hot showers for the day.
• Don’t panic if you don’t see instant results, it takes time to settle.
Following these do’s and don’ts really helps your treatment settle smoothly and last longer.
